A sketch for my (hopefully) next painting:

I’ve had this IKEA table for years, collecting dust, and mostly holding junk. If it wasn’t going to be useful, I decided it might as well be nice to look at.
I started by painting the somewhat shiny black surface (the legs are tan) with white acrylic as a primer.
The circle shape really made me want to paint one of my favorites…Van Gogh’s Starry Night. Above is the underpainting…
…and this is the finished product!! I coated it with acrylic sealer spray to protect the surface. I’m pretty happy with it and don’t mind having it around now

IF this week has prompted a very important grammar lesson:
An adjective modifies a noun, as seen in the illustration below.
(And an adverb modifies a verb, boys and girls.)
For more information, please watch the schoolhouse rock song here.
Illustration Friday this week was “idle,” and while images ranging from long, idyllic summer naps to deathly stiff boredom floated through my head, the saying “idle hands are the devil’s tools” seemed to click the most – not to mention Idle Hands is one of my favorite Bad Movies ever ![]()
Plus I got to sketch with my lithograph crayons, which have been “idly” collecting dust in their hiatus…

Salt always got a little shaky making decisions when Pepper wasn’t around. As a result of his codependency, he has only been allowed to appear in restaurants in an isolated unit under Pepper’s close supervision. Salt could not be reached for comment, as he is currently in the Spice Rehabilitation Program building up his self-esteem and taking it one day at a time.
